4 Share Died for Me upon upgrade to IE 9
« on: June 15, 2011, 11:25:27 am »
Errr,
Hate to start a post that way but IE9 upgraded IE8 for me and broke 4 Share. I looked in the FAQs and Help there but no go. I updated Flash Player and no go.
- What happens is I get to t he link, hit play and the progress bar sits at 0.00 . The video on screen does some of it's normal stuff and stops.
- Any ideas from those that have upgraded to IE9. Once again I have to say I love Microsoft - NOT -  :-\ :'(

IE is probably one of the worst browsers to use.

I suggest you try Firefox instead.

If Dan was about, I am sure that is what he too, would recommend  ;)

I can agree with the firefox advice except these things may not play nice together... fix to follow.

OK,
Took a bit but I got it working again.
I found this on the net that gave me a clue, but it did not fix the issue, but may help others...

"Compatability settings, only in IE9 its not in the Tools menu, its a box next to the URL address window at the top. Only problem when I go onto the 4Shared site it did not appear so I couldn't change the compatability settings. I made it appear by going to Tools - Safety - Active X Filtering and turning this ON. The compatability option then appears at every web page, I clicked the compatability box for 4Shared now everything is working normally as in IE8."

> In my case I had compatibility for 4shared.com listed so I clicked it ON and no go... still broke.
-  I then played with the Active X Filtering and had to Turn it OFF for this site!
-  Not sure if this was needed but I refreshed 4shared.com and it worked good as new.

What, you mean two browsers on one system Lbro?

That's not a problem.

IE is dire, and it's security faults are well documented as far as I know.

Yeah irishalkies,
That is what I ment. A couple verisions back I tried chrome, firefox and IE all at once and they did not play well together. I may load up Fire Fox if for nothing else than to play back the ustream casts... Nice to be able to watch them over again or when I am able. It has been a while since I tried them and things are probably better now.
Thanks,
