Aha, if that 7th fret, note A is your root, then it's phrygian dominant. 5th mode of harmonic minor scale :P
I so love those 2 scales ^^

Woops, I wrote D string, but it was the A string, making the root note E I guess. But it's still phyrigan dominant? Really nice to know what I am doing, thanks! :)

I was inspired by you to make this into "part one" of something bigger. I think this is going to be called "Tornado". Sandra really likes that atleast. But I have lots of ideas for a part two, which I think I will call "After the Storm". :P And the whole thing needs another name again, which I think I will take from the suggestions here since there were lots of cool ones! :)

@jerronimo: So simple, so great. I will use that name someday for a song! Maybe not right now though. "SandmarX - Sandstorm" looks cool! :D

@close: thanks mate :)
@rainwoman: Very interesting, I like that name. Maybe a "part three"? :P

I think this is going to be called "Tornado".

I feel honored!

...then maybe you'll find some inspiration for the part three in one of these ;)

Hey Marcus ... been thinking about this overnight ....

If you like Tornado as a suitable title you may like other 'wind names'

Scirocco ... a desert wind from the Sahara ... so you get the 'sand' and the 'arabic' themes in there.

or another wind ... a light westerly wind .... is a Zephyr (a little nod towards our very own Cue Zephyr)

 :)

Wow.

Instantly thought of that old movie about travelling inside a human being -- Fantastic Voyage.

Wow.

Aye Marcus, still phrygian dominant, but E is your root. So E phrygian dominant, which is 5th mode of A harmonic minor scale.

uhm, i don't really like it... :(

i think that some parts don't fit together, i mean they sound like from completely different songs, and also the last part with strong drums is very similar to the part in the middle which also sounds like it was going to end the song but it's only past first 2 minutes so it has to keep going and the next part sounds quite different again

all in all i like those riffs and solos but i guess the whole song would require some more mixing and remastering

and why everyone is talking about sand if there is no SANDra in this song? :P (which is a big disadvantage btw)

The first thing I thought of is BATTLE AX....

Sandra will not like it, lol but that was the 1st thing to come to the old noggin. I like the Tornado theme as well.

Nice work Marcus, you folks really need to get some of this stuff in front of an agent or record company and let them have at it. They just might take a liking to your stuff!

You and your mates have better than 50-50 odds on making it! That is pretty good considering how many do not.

@Loco: thanks for the honest opinion, mate. The rapid changes of style and tempo are intentional, and that part that is repeated is kind of a chorus, to tie the whole thing a little together :P I like it this way, but I understand that someone might not! :)

@Lbro: Storm Tempest, also a cool name. I need to start making more songs to give all these names :P
Thanks for having faith in us :) Would be amazing to live of making music, but....to put it this way: I won't quit school just yet :P

First off, really great song totally engaging.  and a great piece to give the singer a break in the middle of the set ;)

Sounds like you got some good names, I liked marks in the sand until someone said that the band name was a combination of sandra and yourself, which might be construed as meaning something else :p

I looked up  different words for sand storm and got back

Mormon Rain ( apparently it means dust storm or something )

which sounded like a cool song name.

really awesome song; it sounds like a movie soundtrack

My associations are high octane, burning rubber, buring desert sun, ... like a new madmax would look like :)  imagine what they did with batman with "batman begins" and "dark knight" and let nolan direct a new mad max film...

so you can call it:
-mad max begins :)
-Detour
-Carburations
-curbstone gravestone
-event horizon
-coyote snack
- Exhaust(ed)

Great song dude, sounds very very pro and even though it's intrumental - I did not get bored for even one second ;) This is the best thing i've heard from you so far, you should definitely lean towards this kind of music ;)

About the title - after hearing the first 30 secs or so, I've immediately thought of some stoner-rockish title connected with the post-atomic era, and i've come up with... "MAD-MARX"  ;D

/but if you like something serious, High Octane proposed by LievenDV sounds just great
