For me it seems to make more sense to count it as 3 & 4. The riff breaks up nicely like that and it works smoothly going into the second bit.

It sounds more like 1 2 e and a 3 4 5 6 7 to me.  Or it's the last note in a triplet.  Dunno.

In fact if that is what you are hearing, I'm surprised you don;t count it 1 2  a 1 2 3 4  as that is what you notated.

At any rate it is wrong.

It could not be a more dead ahead 1 2&3 4 5 6 7  very simple.  Mostly 1/4 notes with a couple 1/8ths thrown in. No 1/16ths as you are counting. The 1/8th not shifts later on and Justin counts it as a compound but you can keep counting to 7. I think it changes to 1 2 3&4 5 6 7.....
