So lots of guys and gals saying that they really struggled writing out the tab. But please beleive me, the experience of doing so will make you better, improve you understanding of rhythm and help you develop the ability to write out your own tabs more confidently. So if you find it hard - keep going cos it will benefit you the most!!

Had to comment on this.

While just starting to work on this riff, the exact riff came on the tv for a commercial.  (Yes, I had the tv on while practicing.  It IS football season after all!)

Had me wondering if I could keep the rhythm up.

It was a viagra commercial..... ;D

"Wolf was a singer, NOT a guitar player - so many books get it wrong it drives me crazy" - Justin

He played a pretty mean harp, too ;)

Well worth listening too if you want to learn some great blues licks.

I can't believe noone has posted here since 2014!

Im bringing it back!

Im stage 5 and DIGGING the blues so I'm so excited to be learning my first blues riff!

My pinky looks like it's been hit with a meat tenderiser trying to get that "blues curl" but I'm slowly getting it after practising for the last hour.

Cant wait to get this one under my belt!

It's normal when you begin to bend notes to press too hard and get seriously sore fingers, you only need to press hard enough to get the note clean throughout the bend, it takes time and practice but nothing to be worried about.
Good luck with this one it really is a great track.
If you're really interested in the blues (especially acoustic) take a look at Daddystovepipe's channel on YouTube there's a great selection of stuff from beginners to advanced, also it's a great channel to listen to blues to absorb the sounds and vibe

Here's one of my favorite YouTube covers of Smokestack Lighting.
Been years since I watched it. Thank for reminding me Danni.

Oh cool stitch! That's a cool rendition!

Im going to try Master this on my strat... I still haven't posted a vid of me playing on it.

The acoustic gives it a little county vibe do you think?

I was also trying to work out when that video was made... At first I was like is this from the 70s?

She posted it in 2007. I hadn't thought about it until you posted today.
It took me a while to find it on YouTube. It's a fun riff to play.

You rest lightly the edge of your strumming hand (that runs from the end of your pinkie to your wrist) on the bridge just enough to get the desired sound. Take a look at this video, he demonstrates the technique and explains it well.
