I've tried many times with thumbpick and fingerpicks and I just can't get away with them.  I think the position of your hand and way you do your nails is enough, although don't think I've got long nails, I've just began to get what shape they need to be to give me a better tone.

Your postings really are treats to listen to, ErimSee. You are getting awfully good at this.
One thing I did notice, however, was that the bass notes were quite pronounced, and I wondered if slight muting of these (รก la ragtime blues, only more subtle) would help in projecting the melody.
