My current guitar gear.

Yamaha SG400.

Bought new 1982.
I love this guitar.
More info here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfVhzp6Cd3I

Yamaha FG-332.

Bought new 1983.
I love this guitar too.
My friend through many years.

Fender Stratocaster Deluxe (Custom)

Custom assembled using:

- a maple neck from a 1998/1999 American Deluxe Series with abolone inlays
- a custom-relic black body, also from an American Deluxe Series but post-2002 as this has a contoured neck heel
- possibly Custom Shop '69 pickups ... I need to get this confirmed
- 'aged' vintage cream pickguard, knobs etc

RAT modded Blackheart BH5

The front of the Headstock only has Fender on it?
I've never seen one like that.
Usually it should say stratocaster too.

The short version ...
The very early American Deluxe Series had the decal over the lacquer and it is likely that the 'Stratocaster' part has been rubbed or taken off.

The long version ...
Before I went to see the guitar I asked for the serial number from the seller and it checked out as an American Series Deluxe from 1999/98 ... good so far.  When I went to see it it looked, felt and sounded right. The decal was the one thing that raised a question mark in my own thinking.  No 'Stratocaster' name and the 'Fender' was a raised silver sticker over the lacquer not under.  However, everything else seemed good, the seller told me the name of the custom builder he bought it from and he seemed a genuine type so I bought it there and then.  I still had a question about the decal so I went to the Fender site and asked there .... I got loads of really good info .... here's the thread if you want to know more ...

sounds good,
and now I have sold my VG strat I have some money ... so I'm thinking of a small, home-size tube amp ... which I am sure will help it sound all the better

I think I'm going to get a proper guitar tech to give it a full service and set up too ... the electrics are not 100%, the volume is not as smooth from 1-10 as it could / should be so it maybe needs a little work in there

Was it used? If so looks like a minter.

Looks just like mine... but I'm not that keen on the one I've got to tell you the truth. Doesn't keep tune and always sounds as though it is detuned no matter how well it is tuned. Basically, it just gathers dust. Intonation maybe. I had it set up recently but it's no better. It used to be OK. I've heard that inconsistency is rife with Epiphones so maybe I just got a bad one. I'm looking at selling and getting one of these instead (although the Vintage V100 in Wine Red (mini-humbuckers) is still a priority)...

I'm impressed about what people are saying about Vintage guitars and after watching a whole load of videos from the "Fret King Lounge" with Trev Wilkinson I've taken a liking to the guy. I know that his hardware is just licensed now but he strikes me as an innovative thinker and there's something about the man I just trust when it comes to design. He is passionate about it.
Here's a YouTube shop demo for one. I like the look of the trapeze on it too; it's more "vintage". Cheaper than an Epi too. I've gone right off Epis myself although if youve got a good one close2u I envy you.

You can still get good Epi's, Ben...... it's just that the probability of getting a sub standard one went through the roof when they moved to China. That..... and their cost cutting has reflected in the build quality and overall 'richness' of their guitars. It's why I always preach : Buy second hand and buy Korean. Consistently, they were simply much better made guitars.

long overdue update ...

the Strat has gone
the RAT has gone
the Sheraton has gone
and a Vintage AV6P came and went too

 :o

all part of some great fund-raising scheme ... but that dream may have to be put on hold as we've sold our house and probably need my gear funds to pay for some of the costs of moving

still got my Agile AL3100 ... but it seems I didn't post about that when I got it so here goes:

Oh yeah - bought another Peavey Vypyr 30 and Sanpera II ...

Looks like a PRS SE double cut but it isn't

Is it made by a company more famous for their bass guitars? :-X

I have seen it somewhere recently - it sticks in my mind because it looks like the PRS I got from up your way - they aren't cheap guitars certainly the basses aren't

Jack - are you thinking of this?
http://www.musicradar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=106825&page=1

No mate was deffo the same or a very similar one to the one you have - as I say it just took my eye because it was like my PRS that was how I knew what it was - otherwise I would have been none the wiser. I can't remember where I saw it but it must have been in the last few weeks

To be honest I know nowt about them except they are made up in Carlisle and also sell mid ranged gear via Tanglewood

Where did you get it from if you don't mind me asking

Mmmhh.
Interesting.
Let me know if you remember it ... I'd be interested in knowing if there are others out there ... I was told this was not part of a run of any particular model but a one-off.
That said - I had a reply from someone at Overwater today ... so I asked them for any / all info they had.
I eagerly await their next reply.

Where did you get it from if you don't mind me asking

A bloke in Newcastle.
Met him in a pub car park.
Not quite as dodgy as it sounds.
But those are the basic facts!
