Question for Google Chrome users...
« on: August 17, 2010, 02:54:56 pm »
So, can one of you explain why you use this thing over Firefox?
Currently, i'm running this as a trial, and the lack of customization options and VERY slow page loading is already getting on my nerves...
So please, enlighten me.

For me chrome loads pages much faster than firefox, and that's with about 15 tabs open on chrome and only one tab open on firefox. I also love the google searching that I can do in the address bar.

Chrome is much simpler to use than Firefox, and I quite like the interface so there is no need to customise it for me.

When it comes to web development I use Firefox though because it has the plugins that make it so much easier to keep track. And before Chrome was released I used Firefox as my main browser, and I haven't felt the need to change browser since I have been using Chrome.

its much faster for me also.

I don't browse that much anymore, and most of what I do browse for is pretty safe these days .. have ubuntu for torrents :p

so yeah its faster, and I don't like the firefox interface so much .. I don't seem to need all those options and customisations.

The way firefox had an IE Tab thing was cool, but its always updating and breaking it. I only used it for owa, but I get by with the way chrome renders it.  I did trial a chrome IE Tab thing but it was more annoying than anything :p

:D Browse with what you like, but don't browse with IE.  That's all I have to say.

I only use chrome for testing the sites I develop and I never have performance issues but chrome always manages to act that little different whent it comes to constructions with several <div>'s.

besides speed, do you guys never think when lookign at a site.. "this thing here doesn't look like it was supposed to look" ?

I still love Firefox, it is still my main browser, but Chrome is also good. It's really fast, searching the web is way easier plus I liked the tabs more in Chrome.

I've always used FF and I've found IE and chrome to be a bit slower.
I also like the look and customization options of FF compared to the rest.

I find Chrome to be very fast, with a nice clean interface. I also use Firefox sometime, I only use IE for Outlook Web Access.

Chrome is faster and seems less of a memory hog than FF. Unfortunately FF performance and memory footprint has been steadily going downhill. It still has a lot more extensions available but that by itself is not enough for me to use FF.

Safari is faster than Chrome so that is what I use to browse.

I'm currently using the FF beta.
It's got a nice clean interface and it's very fast.
I've never found FF slow.

i don't know either how xx--xx your computers are or how many tabs you open at once so that it matters how much memory your browser uses ???

p.s. i thought dan was back but it's just a zombie thread :P

I ditched FF in favor of Pale Moon.
Mozilla can stick their fancy new UI where the sun doesn't shine.
And they REALLY need to stop xx--xx with how things work, because their browser is quickly becoming IE 2.0 in terms of bloat and bullshit .
More and more of their core users are telling them to xx--xx off and are switching to lightweight forks of FF, or they compile their own versions of Chromium instead of using Chrome (because Google can kiss our collective asses with their corporate puppet spiel).

Can't say I'm too overawed with the FF4 UI myself.......... I had a suspicious Office 2011 flashback when I first saw it. You know what really f***s me off about it though?......

...... That they switched the 'open in new tab' and 'open in new window' commands around in the context menu. You don't need that s**t when you're used to clicking by muscle memory.

This, by FSM, THIS.
Like i've stated before, for a company run by geeks who make their money off of using their muscle memory 90% of the time, they run things like a bunch of xx--xx idiots.
