Just a quick comment ... this trick also works for pop-in arms (like on Wilkinson bridges) that are a bit loose.

PTFE Tape = Teflon Tape = Plumbers Tape

Comes in pink and yellow too that is a little thicker. Actually it comes in many thicknesses and widths but white, pink and yellow are the most commonly stocked in hardware stores.

I was actually able to get this to work with my "no thread" whammy bar.  I used duct tape rather than ptfe tape though, so I don't know if that made a difference (I'm not sure why it would), but regardless, it does seem to be possible to use this trick on no thread bars as well.

Well, whammy bars do pull on the strings to create the lowered pitch.  I would suggest maybe getting some higher gauge strings or a different brand as you should be able to use a whammy bar without breaking a string.

K thanks. I do use a light gauge compared to most other people. I use a 9 - 42 guage

Hi Justin I'm having a few issues:

1. WHen I put the whammy bar in its style wobbly (even with tape)

2. WHen I take out the whammy bar the tape is all shredded and darker in colour and stuck between the gaps.

Cheers, Jimmy.

p.s. sorry, i didn't know we couldn't post questions on youtube.
