Should i change my pickups?
« on: March 10, 2010, 10:44:28 am »
Hi guys,

I'm the happy owner of a Lâg Jet Matt 200 (electric guitar). The shape looks a little bit like a Strat and i think it's a good little guitar for the price (i have a nice cut on the price and i paid it €250) . Here 's a link to give you an idea of what it look like (mine is kaki) :

I used it almost everyday for hours since june and i start to have a better ear and a better idea of what i'd like to sound like. I like the sound of a Stratocaster specially Eric Clapton or David Gilmour's sound. So i wonder if i should change one or all pickups. Do you think it would be a good idea ?

If yes which kind of pickups should i buy ?

good pickups are indeed not the cheapest.

btw; my favorite pickup brand is bare knuckle pickups; perhaps, for your Clapton sound, the slowhand set is something to check out: http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/ZS-slowhand.html

even, sometimes the investment of buying a new $1000 guitar is more useful than putting $500 of upgrades (pickups, tuners, bridge, etc) on a $250 guitar.

That's what i'm thinking. Problem is, it'll probably take my ages before i can buy a real Stratocaster. Not that i really need it but i'd like to have one that sounds great.
