This is the coolest idea in ages ;)

and yeah it seems the bar is set pretty high with that effort.

Something a little slower would be cool as well.

I must make more time for guitar :)

Okay, Sandra is working again, so here I am with my guitar  ::) Since no one else did anything, I tried to make some kind of slower more bluesy track now, only 86 bpm or something. Key is still E. I hope this was something like you guys wanted? Maybe more people want to try now!  :)
I did a little solo in the beginning, rest is just for jam, so we go like A B C D instead of A B A B  like I originally was thinking.

Ofc, if warlock or someone want to make a BT more like how they want it go ahead and we can use that instead.  :)

Bass too, in this one.  8) but I really suck at making endings...

Just rough, lazy, one-time attempt ;)

Squier Affinity Strat -> Laboga Rad III -> xx--xx mic -> pc ;)

Sorry for the volume drop ;)

now this gets interesting  ;)

I've gave it another try, this is just a bonus, don't record to that file -> http://www.4shared.com/file/246273035/ab93c6ef/slow_blues_jam.html (volume drops as always). I haven't finish the full 12 bars the second time, but i kinda like the solo ;)

Here's my addition.

It would be nice if the backing track could be extended easily.

Awesome stuff, I will have a go at it as soon as I can. I think a call and response section in the backing track would be a cool thing to have. :)

Cguitar:

All I have used for anything I have posted in these forums is about as simple and low priced as you can get.

Reaper for recording.
A $100  Line 6 TonePort DI w/POD-Farm.

I have not tweaked any settings. I just scroll through the presets and pick something that sounds close. This last one was named Bowie SRV. I suppose it's supposed to emulate SRV on Let'sDance.

All you need to do is put the backing track on track 1. Then record to track 2. Make sure your levels never hit the red ( 0dBFS ). Better to stay around -10 to -15 or so.

Once you have what you want. adjust the level to match teh backing track so it blends in well and render those 2 tracks to an mp3.

I also use reaper (audacity had a tendency to introduce timing problems with multiple tracks)
I have a cheap but decent enough microphone plugged into my soundcard sitting in front of the speaker cab..... that's it.

CG, mine was/is called the DI Gold. POD Farm came out later and they gave that to me free.

I'm not sure what it all comes with now. The only point I was making was that it is the lowest end of Line6 stuff that you can get basically. and that most anything is good enough.

Charlie, i use two ways to record...

1) My Looper pedal, i record onto that and transfer it to the pc via my usb link.
2) USB Samson CO1U mic sitting in front of my Blackstar stack.

Everything goes into Reaper on my pc though. Reaper uber alles :)
Don't use audacity. It's really crap compared to Reaper
