"Imperfect" harmonica transcription
« on: January 05, 2010, 02:52:52 pm »
Like the new section so I thought I'd post the transcription I've done for Justins "imperfect".
Every time I look at it I'm noticing some new that isn't quite right, but I think I've picked out my major errors.

Notation:
Bold means it's a draw note
underline means it's a bent note
- means the note is carried into or out of the bend

Played on a Db diatonic harmonica (I used a D to transcribe which works fine against a standard tuning version of the song)

Intro and outro
4 44455555444
4 44455555444433

Solo 1
4-4-4--4-4-4-4 445554

Solo 2
554 554 33
554 554 6-6-6 66 6-6-6 65544

Hope it makes sense and have fun with it.

Hey, we have a harmonica section.
I do not approve but i'm shutting up for peace sake.

Nice transcription tourni.
I should practice a bit more, but the smoking seems to make it a bit hard.
Persona non grata.

I was looking at getting a harmonica so I can give this song a go. I have never even held one before in my life  :-[  Will it only work with a diatonic Harmonica in Db?

If you want it to sound like the original it will need to be a Db diatonic as justin downtuned his guitar a half step.
Next best options would be a D diatonic against standard tuning (I used this).
C diatonic is probably the most common harmonica to buy first.... not sure whole step downtuning or transposing would fit the song too well but if you're just playing the harmonica part and can deal with the tonal difference it could be an option.
