Wow that seems to me like exactly what is going on. This has been bothering me for sometime as I always try to analyze the progression to figure out the key and this one had me stumped. Thanks a lot for your help!
Also, the Wikipedia page appears to confirm this and has some additional information. I think I will try to incorporate this into some of my own progressions and see how it works out!

Going back now to learn the solo's. Does anybody know what scale slash is pulling these licks from?
