Oh well, I'm still trying to learn the lyrics and the chord sequences (I know the chords, I tend to mess up the order) of More Than Words by Extreme.

Can anyone tell me what is happening at 4:59? I'm pretty sure that it's some tapping going on, but I'm not sure how and where.

Don't know about anyone else, but I'm trying to learn to concentrate on getting the basics right without trying to jump too far ahead of myself. Takes a bit of discipline to get the acoustic out and keep going through the chord changes, strumming and scales, when my Epi LP is sitting there in the corner willing me to try the Stairway To Heaven solo.

According to the chart I fall between a tenor and alto as well, however, I can go in the soprano range. This was discovered when I had my range checked and I was told (although I'm really skeptical about this) that I am a Mezzo Alto. I'm skeptical because there's alot of airy sounds (which is normally indicated by very little if not zero air support) in that range. I was told that I could do exercises to improve the tone but I'm very leary that anything above A5 is naturally in my vocal range. Same with anything below C3.

I'm working on ZZ top's Sharp Dress Man. The solo is killing me cause i have nothing to look at and can not find a great tab off the web. But oh well.

I went back to trying Desecration Smile recently - which was one of the first songs I wanted to play - and discovered that I'm not that far off anymore. So I'm practicing that, although singing to it kills me. I'm having a hard enough time hitting the notes when I'm not playing the guitar, but singing along is, well, kind of cack, tbh.

The other song I'm currently working on is Beginner's Luck by Eels - off-beat strumming in the verse and the prechorus, so, much like Desecration Smile, I'm kind of way ahead of myself on that one, too. But, than again, it's good practice, even if it will take me quite a while before I'll be able to play it somewhat satisfactorily. But that's basically no different from everything else I'm practicing.

I'd use it if I could afford it. I'm really financially tight right now. So I tend to try to transribe the old fashion way of listen to a song until you get sick and then for some miraculous reason you figure it out on the guitar. In situations like this I let my fingers to the talking and I don't think about the song I'm trying to figure out. I've gotten to the point where I can recognize chords (not alot but a good enough amount) but it's solo's that are killing me right now.

I also use the old-fashioned way. But I'm the opposite of you! It's the chords that are killing me

That's interesting, the fact that we have opposite problems when transcribing. Sometime's I get pieces to solo's but it's still hard to transcribe the rhythm on paper when there are bends because the duration of a bend is up to the player. That's where I get rhythmically lost. On top of knowing what scale or key I'm in.

Yeah, that's interesting. The problem with chords for me are that finding out which key I'm in, but I find out after I transcribe solos!

I only recognize chords once they're put into context, because I play quite a lot of songs where a capo is used.

Anyway, we also have Audacity, not sure about the slowed-down-audio quality opposed to Transcribe!, but hey.

it's possible they worked out uadition based on cooledit because I remember audition the longest.
audition was also the product you got refered to when you tried to download a trial for cooledit

SoundBooth came around when CS3 was released, I think.
Audition has been arond for longer I think.
