I do a bit off lessons, a bit off the tabs, a bit by ear and change bits to how I like them - suits me

Forgot to add that I learn Drifting off a lesson because I'm too unfamiliar with the technique, I do change things up a bit by listening to the record though.

Edit: Should I be ashamed of myself learning this song off a tutorial video and not by transcribing?

I've had the last 2 days off work so apart from spending far too much time on this forum I've been catching up on lots of other guitar related stuff too.

Watched the 3 u-stream vids - really enjoyed the bit on arpeggios, started the online Yale Listening to Music course - very interesting so far.

Finally went through RUST - not a lot of new learning here but it was great to consolidate and I made myself do every exercise to make sure I could - for some reason I've never had much of a problem with strumming patterns.

Downloaded the new Major Jam pack thingee and played all over it - I've always found it difficult to move between patterns in any other key than G but for some reason having the backing track made this a lot easier for me - not much of what I did sounded great but as I was staying in the scale none of it sounded woeful either - note to self - must do much more of this.

Learned a few more licks from Blues Lead Guitar and tried them over a backing track but my full tone bends suck!

I learned Walkin Easy Blues - again not too hard but I haven't quite got it autonomic yet.

Just one more thing on the catch up list to do - start transposing RUBS

I've learnt Sultans of swing (ty Justin !) and now i'm completly addicted to Dire Straits. So i think i'm gonna learn a lot of their songs. Actually i'm working on "brothers in arms".

well, i need a little more of pratice to do it exaclty like Knopfler does but it still pretty decent.

Nice idea. I'm learning "brothers in arms" with some tabs actually but i'm thinking about transcribing (or trying to transcribe) "Down to the waterline". The rhythm pattern sounds the same (or close to it) and the licks are amazing.

yeah, i like it too but sometime it takes me weeks to transcribe just an intro. I'm too lazy for that !
