You seem to have a powerful attack, as your classical almost sounds like an acoustic steelstring.

For not playing so much, you have some nice fingerpicking going on (although it's a little rough around the edges).

Keep at it and mind how hard you pull and hit the strings.
A little bit softer and you will maintain a steadier pace and have better control over your dynamics.
(dynamics; silent, loud, strong, soft etc working together, this puts expression in your song)

That is great advice!
Thank you.

You're right, what do I do, just merge the channels?
I guess I can't record dual channells with one mic?  Hmm, so much to learn.

Thanks
Curtis

Curtis, you are right that with the single mic you will record a single mono track in Audacity. Once you have  that recorded then you need to look into the settings within Audacity that control the exporting/saving/rendering (lots of words that may be used) of the final audio from Audacity. There I would expect you to be able to render as a mono or stereo mp3/wav file. And with a single mono recording, when you output in stereo you hear the same in both channels.

Curtis

That was great, really exquisite playing on Out There but solid on both songs. Picking was nice clean on Out There, sounded very polished. Also good to see you singing and playing. Life might have got in the way of progress but on the scale of things you are doing pretty good given your limited practice time. Try and meet that 6 0 target, even if you just pick up for 10-15 minutes a day. I am sure you will get there.

Would love to hear you do some other stuff over on AOVYP as folks have said.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers

Toby

Just come across this ancient thread and listened to the track on Spotify.
Lovely acoustic guitar with a very strong hint of James Bond soundtrack in it.

Have these challenges stopped?

The challenges are all there, Willsie ... just waiting for the next Forum Member to decide to have a crack and post up a recording of the song, or a jam over in the improv area.

;D as I recall you posted a recording, forget if it was audio-only or a phone video, once. And my recollection is it was most enjoyable. So I'll look forward to that day when you are ready again  ;)

A couple of songs in the novice forum and a couple of Christmas songs. I struggle getting a song to a stage where I’d post it before I move on to the next.

Guess it is a matter of how good is good enough. My own bar is below, zero flubs, irrespective how well I might be playing if I managed it flub free. I've gained more by being willing to post my best effort warts and all than not posting. Each to his, whatever helps you keep on keeping on, learning and improving.

I actually started to look at trying this after listening to it. Such a nice recording.
Then I saw the F# at the 4th fret, 4th string.  :(
Not a reach I can manage I'm afraid.

Willsie01- I learned this off a tutorial. This might help you get that reach, if it's the spot i'm thinking of, this is a less stretchy fingering.

Just a noob who likes diminished chords and songs that use them.

Thanks!
A helpful guida to the piece.
Still has the F# stretch that worries me but I'm going to try it.
