Hey guys,

This is my take.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n__hMssloxY

I feel something isn't right.
comments and suggestions please.
Sounded great to my ears, I'd be well happy with that if I ever get that far.

Well done.

Oh yeah, I thought we're running out of Floyd fans on this forum.

Amazing job!

Here's my rendition of Pink Floyd's Is There Anybody Out There and Nobody Home played on a Cordoba Classical with Martin Magnifico Strings.
Recorded with Focusrite and Audacity.  Just a bit of Reverb added.

I am actually a beginner, for about six years now as I only play a bit each winter after Christmas then get too busy with work, life and other hobbies.  I told myself this year for the life of me I'm going to learn to play before I reach 60, which is two years away.  I have been trying Is There Anybody Out There for years but just couldn't get it to work out cleanly on my Yamaha steel string.  I switched to a Classical guitar and bingo!

Enjoy?  ;)

Sure did  :)
Nice playing. I can't recall hearing any of your stuff before, but this is very enjoyable.
The key might be a little high for your voice on the upper registers, but have some good vibes for making an old Floyd fan smile  :)

That was terrific Curtis. Some super fingerpicking there and your guitar tones are great.
The only advice I can give you is to remove your post from this section and re-post it in the AVoYP section. You’ll get loads more views there and more helpful comments.

I have a backlog of tunes to listen on this forum but I decided to let you jump ahead of the queue because I really like this tune. Well played and nicely sang, you captured the vibe of the song nicely with vocals. Very Waters-like!!

As sairfingers said, it is true that people do check AVOYP section more and you will get more feedback there, I do like the Guitar Challenges section quite a lot because I can listen to multiple versions of the tune I am working on without searching all over the forum. So please do not remove this post from here for my future reference :)!

Good point. I hadn’t thought of that. I thought of suggesting you post in both sections but that would simply confuse things. It’s up to you. 😃

You seem to have a powerful attack, as your classical almost sounds like an acoustic steelstring.

For not playing so much, you have some nice fingerpicking going on (although it's a little rought around the edges).

Keep at it and mind how har you pull and hit the strings.
A little bit softer and you will maintain a steadier pace and have better control over your dynamics.
(dynamics; silent, loud, strong, soft etc working together, this puts expression in your song)

Very nice Curtis, this intro you've been playing- definitely not an easy excercise to master! You did it well, sure some minor mistakes happened but nothing major that cannot be mitigated with a bit more practice. Hopefully life doesn't get in your way and you stick around :) vibes.

Most enjoyable, Curtis, both the playing and the singing.

Unless something wrong my side, it sounded like the track was coming through only the left channel?

Wish you well to achieve the goals you've set yourself before 60.

I also think this sounds quite bright for a classical guitar, I’m pretty sure that it’s the strings. Those strings are a development for Martin by Aquila the company that is better known for Ukulele strings, they’re synthetic (possibly Fluocarbon) and have a different tone to natural materials or plain nylon. I also only got the LH channel in my headphones.
The performance, well what can I say other than it was really good, very accurate and articulate.
Still here, still learning and still a monumentally stubborn old f4rt 😂

@sairfingers @curtis
Sorry - we prefer people don't double post.
I have merged both together.
:)

@Curtis

That is sounding pretty good considering what you say about having had very little practice time.
And thank you for reviving and refreshing the challenges section.
Like glpguitar, I like the challenges sections and would like more traffic through here.

You're right, what do I do, just merge the channels?
I guess I can't record dual channells with one mic?  Hmm, so much to learn.

Thanks
Curtis
