Bought myself yet another Raspberry Pi.
I have one running a webserver/cloud storage, one running home automation and in-home data share (LAN only), one running Pi Musicbox in my parents' kitchen, and the new one will become my portable hack box.
Man, i am such a geek  :-[

I've been wanting to do something with an Arduino but don't know what to do. I watched about 8 YT vids on the introduction to how it works. also saw a guy that set up a aquaculture system in his side yard and it checks the water level, ph, basically automates the whole deal.

I can't think of anything to make though. Where can I go to find out about some of the stuff you built? ... and why do people pick Raspberry Pi for some things and Arduino for others. I was reading around on that girls site.... damn... can't think of her name... the young genius girl... the web site is like her name plus something else..... I know you've heard of it...

Anyway.... I want to build something cool and cheap... has does data share for LAN sound... by that do you mean NAS ( data share LAN ).

You can start a new thread... if it get's involved in the answer?

Consider it done TB, thread will be in computers subforum ASAP.
As for the genius girl, you probably mean Limor 'ladyada' Fried, from adafruit.com and ladyada.net.

Fried's talk on HOPE 6, where she talked about hew cellphone/radio jammer and why/how she did that project.
Not for the non-geeks.
Why would anyone discuss this topic, considering these things are banned everywhere ?
Same reason i enjoy reading 'Home Workshop Explosives' or books about nervegas and other wicked xx--xx : knowledge is good.

I still need to get a pi. Have two arduinos and a Beaglebone Black (which I love btw). I want to set up a media server though, and the Raspberry Pi seems the way to go (BBB has very poor video support).

TB....my first arduino project was the lamp in my front room. It is operated by a key fob (available from adafruit now), and can be set into various modes. In Bluetooth mode it searches for my phone every few seconds and turns on when it is in range. That's very handy....I've set up my front porch lights similarly.

Limor Fried is great. She has done so much for DIY electronics, and shown the world that you can be a success without being an ass.

Well bradt, i first used my very first Pi as a RaspBMC mediabox, it worked fine, especially with a Flirc plugged into it.
Took a little bit of bash-fu to get NTFS support going, but once that's done you can attach jst about any sort of storage, provided you use a POWERED!! USB hub (also, if you unplug and then plug in any sort of non selfpowered hardware directly into the Pi's USB ports it hard reboots, hence why you need a powered USB hub).
Personnaly i bought the PiHub which powers the Pi and any USB items attached, because it looks cool and all power coming from one source is always a good thing, less chance of interference and such.

But i'll keep the further details for the Pi thread, if you have questions feel free to ask there  ;)

Welp, i now have two SSD's serving as C:\Dungeon and D:\Steam respectively.
My system (cold) boots to desktop with all my software running and ready in under 20 seconds, and a reboot takes less than 30 second from shutdown notice to desktop returning.
Still storing my proper data on HDD's as i don't need hyper speeds to access my porn, music and movies  ;D

Oh, really... I was expecting to see Samsung... I haven't researched them much... but I kept seeing Samsung pop up.

I suppose it makes sense that a memory company would make good ones. I wonder if Munchkin will jump on that wagon?

New shirt. Made in America and the profit went to Harleys for Heros

I dream of a better tomorrow where chickens can cross roads without their motives being questioned.
