Cdim is indeed C-Eb-Gb. If you add the note A you end up with Cdim7.
How did you come up with the pattern Eb-A-C-Gb ?

ps: as a coincidence, this chord is also an Ebdim7, Gbdim7 and Adim7

hi what dose justin mean  when  he  says   at the  end now  find  the   others on   strings  2  3 & 4 

 the  1st  shape  the roots on the   e string    the   2nd shapes  on  the b string  witch is  the  second  string  an  the other  shape  is on the  3rd string  so im  confused  bout  that

Chix - if i remember correctly the lesson revolves around C, G & D - but if you keep the shape you can play it anywhere and it becomes the same chord as the root note for each position - eg if you played the first shape Justin shows with the root on fret one you have an F chord, move the shape to the second fret it becomes F#, move it to the 3rd fret it becomes G and so on.

I think what Justin is doing is imploring you to become familiar with each root note for each shape - not just G, C & D.

I watched the triads lesson last night, and understand it for the most part, at least for the 3 shapes.  But taking F maj for example, on the fretboard I find these triads.  They don't all correspond to the 3 shapes, but look like inversions of F maj.  Are we limited to the 3 shapes, or have I missed something?

Hi Minotaur,

The lesson on triads only covers the shapes that inhabit the first 3 strings - there are other shapes that exist on other combinations of strings and Justin invites you to go off and explore those for yourself.

Basically anywhere you find a F on the fretboard you will be able to find a triad shape to form an F chord NB the root won't always be the lowest note however.

The sexy part is that whenever you find a triad shape it will be replicable up and down the fretboard.

I really want to know if I'm right  I hate learning things incorrectly and then having to get rid of a bad habit

This is the best lesson I have had in a long time. I was always amazed how people could play chords other than barre chords up and down the neck. I'm basically a barre chord and cowboy chord kind of guy. Not anymore! Thanks Justin!

PlanB - It is right, although your chart could be clearer.
For example - stringset 654 should look like: 542xxx not xxx542.  
Also labeling the chords would be clearer: 542xxx is A major.
