Hmmm.. Started around 2001. On and off for about 20 years I guess.
Which is/are your favorite music genre(s)?
Rock, Metal and Acoustic
Which genre do you play on your guitar often?
Lately I've been working a ton on my acoustic and fingerstyle skills. My background is mostly rock and metal with some blues. However I've made a goal to only play acoustic this year and see where I'm at by years end since its my most neglected genre.
Who are your favorite bands?
Lately Beartooth has been a big one. Also Mike Dawes and Kaki King, more one-person-bands but super awesome fingerstyle guitarists. Kind of all over the place. Also love Of Mice & Men, Fit For a King, Unwritten Law, The Anchor, Pantera..
What inspired you to start playing guitar?
My step father gave me his old Les Paul knock off to play when I was a kid. I dabbled but it was massive and I was tiny so it didn't go far. Then I started listening to Linkin Park for a couple years.. Then a few years later I was introduced to Metallica, Slipknot and Limp Bizkit (yeah, I know, I know) and I bought myself an RG321 and that's pretty much where it all began. The first time I heard the Cemetery Gates riff is whe I knew this is what I was going to be doing for the rest of my life.
Do you play in a band or have you been playing in a band?
Not at the moment. I've jammed with other musicians but never actually been in a band.
Why do you play guitar?
It's one of my few escapes. The feeling you get when you play something that just sounds good is one that never gets old for me. I also love teaching guitar and have been doing so for about 10 years now. And if I plan to teach, I've gotta keep learning!
What are your goals for the future?
- Complete the Mike Dawes Master course on JamPlay
- Complete the Kaki King Master Course on JamPlay
- Record an acoustic song
- Write my own fingerstyle song
- Stop sucking at singing (I know the exercises, just don't wanna do em lol)
- Teach as many people to play guitar, or at least get them to start, as possible.
Also, on a side note, was anyone else hella confused by the key captcha the first time they saw it? lol. That thing had me messed up for a second there.
