Title: Fast as You - Dwight Yoakam cover
Post by: OpsRes on February 13, 2019, 09:14:23 pm
It's been a while since I posted and since one of my guitar objectives this year is to post some videos to track my progress, I felt it was time to get one up. Dwight is one of my favourite artist I thought this would make a good selection.
I've changed up the recording setup from last time and so the guitar is much more prominent than the last one. This has the advantage in that you can now hear my guitar better :), unfortunately this also means that you can hear my guitar better :(
No vocals on this one.
The sound I'm getting is a bit bright for my ears. I'm still very early in trying to get the sound I want out of my Mustang I v2. Something else to work on.
As always any suggestions are welcome.

Ops, This is a great song by a great artist.  I really like his style.  Well, I was hoping for vocal, too, but not disappointed with the rhythm guitar.  I thought it sounded really good.  You've certainly got the timing going on with that foot and leg!  ;D  I didn't think the guitar sounded that bright, but my hearing is not the best at higher frequencies.  Getting the sound dialed in that you want can be pretty tricky.  Once you find it, note what your settings are so you can get it back.  A nice, enjoyable watch/listen of your rhythm playing.

We'll have to start calling you steady-legs!
Solid stuff.

Sounding and looking really good, OpsRes.  Steady strumming, clean chords, smooth changes.

No specific suggestions to make to continue to improve.  Just keep doing what you're doing and I look forward to the next video.

Oldhead, Close, Max & David,
Thanks for giving this a listen :) Getting feedback form players of your caliber is really appreciated, I've heard what you guys do with the guitar and I aspire to do the same.
BTW Dwight does a great single guitar acoustic version of this song,
