Title: Summertime - Jazz Rendition
Post by: Gus Machado on November 12, 2018, 10:55:05 am

Hi guys, it's been four months studying in this site, (i've been playing for a long time in my life)
But this last months I was focused in learning how to play jazz, and how to make my guitar sound like a jazz guitar.
I've been taking Justin lessons, as well as Sandra Shermmann jazz tutorials.
Let me know what you guys thing.
Thanks in advance

I've always loved Summertime and jazz music in general. You do this justice! Very nice playing.

Nicely played, it’s not an easy piece and you did it justice!
Good choice for tuition, Sandra does some very nice tuition pieces.

Lovely warm, jazzy tones, Gus, and fine playing.  Most enjoyable.

Gus, that sounded great, you play very well. The tone of your guitar is nice and rich and warm...and jazzy  ;D I would say mission accomplished! Are you familiar with Midnight Blue by Kenny Burrell? It's a brilliant record, with some amazing guitar.

Excellent! Lovely arrangement, great playing, sone of the chord voicings look pretty difficult but all your notes ring out nicely.

Thanks so much! I'm trying to improve my paying, musical awareness and tone.
So i'm always looking for jazz guitar players to listen to! I'm going to listen it right now! :D

Hi Gus,
Nice playing there, not much into Jazz on this end but you rocked this one pretty good.

Liked your video too... nice touch looking down the neck. Can you share the cam setup or attachment to your phone - or whatever that is? I have a suggestion though. I got a little dizzy with the busy background of your keyboard. I think if you shoot into something like a blank wall it would be better.

All in all, a nice production and nice to take in.

All the best as you rock down on Jazz!

Hey man! Thanks for the support. I'm using a Nikon D5200 and a 55 - 180mm stock lenses for the medium-shot and a mobile phone "octopus" tripod that has flexible legs that make it easy to attach in different surfaces. It is something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Flexible-Adjustable-Universal-Octopus-Samsung/dp/B072R1TFDC but you can buy it anywhere. They're pretty common.

I'm still trying to use more than one camera, but next time, I'll try to use the second camera, which is my cellphone as Closeup of both hands.

Plus, you're right about the background. Unfortunatelly I dont have any other space in my studio that would serve to point the cameras.

Thanks so much for the comeback Gus as I appreciate it! I actually have an octopus camera tripod. It may be too big to use as you did though. Thanks for the link on the one you used!

Have a rockin good Christmas!
