Title: How to properly Sound Check?
Post by: brandtj on October 21, 2018, 08:11:23 am
Hello,

This may be a ridiculous question, but how exactly do you sound check? I've been playing a lot of open mics and small venues this year and, depending on the venue, I'm asked to do a sound check. But I don't know what I'm listening for... When I'm asked how it sounds, I always just say it's fine. But I know there's something to it, and notice sometimes it's harder to hear myself -- but don't usually catch it until halfway through a performance.

If it matters, I sing and play a plugged in little martin acoustic/electric.

When performing solo it is important that you
- Can hear your guitar properly
- Can hear your voice properly.

Especially your voice is important so that you Can pitch correctly.
You should play/Sing the soundcheck at both low and High intensity to make sure you can hear your voice over the guitar.
