Title: Malware in ads?
Post by: sdd56 on October 01, 2018, 09:05:39 am
Just been looking at the lesson for Norwegian Wood.

By default, I always use adblock on Firefox. However there was a message on the page saying "please consider turning adblock off". Which seems fair enough if it helps Justin.

After doing this, I noticed at the bottom of the page (after the comments), a couple of lines of text:
1) Download free pdf file.
2) Download lyrics.

Thinking this was part of the lesson, I clicked on each in turn, but both took me to external sites which Malwarebytes blocked "due to PUP".

Just tried refreshing the page and they have disappeared, replaced by an obvious ad, I guess the ads rotate. I think I will have to stick with adblock!

Just checked and you're right the ad is very deceiving. Looks like you
can down load the lesson.

Just a warning for everyone not using ad block.
Justin doesn't offer free down loads any more because of copyright law.
He had to take all his tabs down or would be sued by publishing companies
and copyright holders. This is where the books come in. He pays royalties
and they allow him to keep his video lesson up on the website.
Exept Bob Dylan this is why all Dylan's song and videos have been removed.

Hope this helps others from clicking on free PDF ads or ads for tabs.
Unfortunately this is the reality of the internet.
