Title: Hi All / Electric Guitar Grade 1
Post by: dantheman1983 on February 11, 2018, 01:57:28 pm
Hi all, new person here.

I've been having lessons for 10 months on my acoustic and have grasped a decent number of chords and basic strumming, not that I can play many songs, just bits and pieces of a few.
I dug out my electric that I had a few lessons on when I was 17 (now 34  :-\ ..)
Thought I might be better off trying the electric as even though I love the sound of my acoustic I can't see myself as a one man band, have difficulty singing with the music and certainly not the confidence to do it in front of my teach (suffer from a monotone voice you see!)

I've decided to take the grade 1 (when ready that is) as something to work towards and get familiar with the electric as I'm going back to basics a bit as playing all this individual notes is all new etc.

Has anyone got any recent experience of doing this exam and any tips?
I'm aware that a lot of players do it when they're like 10 years old but hay ho!

I jumped straight in at Rockschool grade 5 so am unfamiliar with the earlier grades.
Here's a syllabus guide to help:
