I just bought the entire combo package...just about finished stage one and two and starting some songs.  Are the beginner songs located on any other CD's or just on the website?

Thank you for the support.  Very helpful.  That now answers my question.  I will work with the website.

Are there different version of Justin's beginner course? I brought the Beginner DVD bundle a couple of years ago but have never been a fan of the DVD format. If I get the book can I cross reference it with the DVD if I need to or is there a chance that the DVD and book will have different content in a different order?

Hello and welcome! :)

The beginner's course was re-vamped 4...?? 5...?? years ago - I don't know if the old one was ever on DVD. Otherwise, the online course and the DVDs should be consistent. I believe there might be some 'bonus' material on the DVDs which isn't available on line.

You could check your DVDs against the current on-line course to be sure.

I could be wrong because I don't have the BC DVD but every other DVD I've purchased from Justin has
the PDF files on the DVD. Open the DVD don't run it and check the file folders for PDF files

Hello Everyone

I have been working my way through the book and DVD's, and I am having a lot of fun learning how to play guitar.

I was wondering if there is an electronic version of Justin's Beginner Book available to download as part of the Beginners Coursebook pack? It would come in handy to be able to read it on my tablet when I have a spare minute at work.

Thank you
Craig

I just got me Beginners Book with the 2 CDs.  I'm working through the J.U.S.T.I.N training and noticed the book mentioned there are pdf charts on CD2.  I can't see them on the CD.  All the .aiff files seem to be there.  Maybe this is a MAC thing?  I'm not on a PC.  :(

Thanks!

I'm using it on a Mac, and I can see the files in the Finder. They are not in the same folder as the sound files. The problem is that the finder seems to automatically open the CD in music mode. However, if you right click (cmd click) on the CD in the sidebar, you will see the PDFs. At least, I do on my machine.

Thanks Tim!!  It might have been iTunes or something strange.  Indeed when I inserted the CD the 2nd time- it actually opened up 2 mounted drives one for music, one for the files.  Strange cause it definitely wasn't there the first time I inserted the CD.  Got em now though- thanks!

Are these files available online?  I have a Macbook but Apple doesn't put CD/DVD players in them anymore.  Would be nice to be able to print these out instead of writing in the book.

Just bought Beginners course and beginners Songbook from Amazon.
Songbook shows 2nd edition clearly on the cover but the Beginners Coursebook doesn't say 2nd edition anywhere.
It is spiral bound with ISBN 978-1-78305-892-1
Have I got the 2nd edition?

If it doesn't have Like a Rolling Stone in it, its the second edition.

Dylan or his publishers didn't like Justin doing Dylan lessons on Youtube. Strange after granting permission to use them, but true.

Are you also from Hull?

Thanks for replying but it's the Coursebook edition I'm trying to establish not the Songbook.
The Coursebook doesn't say 2nd Edition anywhere whereas the Songbook has 2nd edition on the cover.
I'm Scottish, on a boat on the Thames, on the way (eventually) to our home on Crete.

I think here's only one edition of the Course Book, so you will have the first. The Song Book is in its second edition because a number of Dylan songs were taken out the first edition by Justin.

I'm sure we have plenty of Scots living in Hull. Sailing down the Thames to Crete sounds like fun. Good luck with the curs and song book.

Hi.

I've been looking for a list of contents of the Beginners Course Book, but haven't seen one. Is the content identical to the 9 stages of the website Beginners Course? Only written?

Or - does it add more info?

IMO, the beauty of the website lessons is Justin showing not only what to learn, but also exactly HOW to do it. The lack of that is the biggest setback of most written courses in my experience. So what does the BC Book add (if anything) over the web lessons?

Thank's for any answers on this before I decide if I should buy it. (Got the Practical Theory Book and that one is superb!!!)

I believe there are a bonus lesson or two for each stage.  But when I went looking for where i saw that I couldn't find them listed.  I may have been thinking of the intermediate course, the dvd only lessons are listed there.

What is in the Beginners Coursebook?  Is it the same as what is on the website?  Are there any examples like there are for the Beginners songbook?

Thanks.

Hello,
I understand the beguinner a coursebook comes with 2 cds...
It would be great if they do a new edition that comes wth say... A sub instead? Or a link you can download to your computer, iPad.... Pretty please?😁

These days computers don't come with cd players... Just sayin'

Just a suggestion because I'd like to have the book but I can't use CDs

ask some one that you might know how to load it to a stick as all pc's these days have a USB that should be OK to place into a music file that would be the easiest way in your case, if you don't have a friend go to a public library or information center you should be able to do it there an easy task that would solve your problem. then you could put the 2 discs away for a back up in case you lose the memory stick

hope that helps Colin 8) 8) 8)

good luck and happy learning

I'm interested in purchasing the beginners coursebook, but was wondering if someone would be willing to post an image of one of the songs - any one, doesn't matter - I just want to see what it looks like before buying the book.  Thanks!

Ferruci, I don't think there are any songs in the beginners course book they are all in the beginners songbook. If you look at this in Justin's store you'll see a sample layout for a song. I and many many others will say it's a superb book and an essential companion for doing the beginners course.

I bought the Course book solely to support the great work Justin does and it is well worth it for those that can afford it. [About one hors worth of guitar lessons in Australia would cost more that it did for me to purchase the book and have it delivered registered to Australia.

Content wise it has all nine Stages plus a bonus stage which includes: Chord library, How to change strings, getting s good sound from your amp, A Full Neck diagram with all the notes, a Capo chart, Justin training exercises, A blues lead to learn, Simple Finger picking "Silent Night", and solo blues.

The CD's supplement the nine stages as well as the bonus stage material.

Overall, its a quality book that's made to last and serve as a reference for anyone interested in learning guitar.

I still refer to the videos online for the initial lesson at each stage, but I use the book from then on and the CD's until I feel confident enough to move on.

Anyway, if you use the site and can afford it you will be very pleased with the book.

Hi Russell, Well, as far as I know they are not available as download, but I never used them much. Lot of things are available as soundcloud files, for example ear training, and you find the links with the referring Video lesson where you can find all the important audio stuff as well. This is all I can tell you. Hope this helps.
Regards, Atari
Maybe you have got the wrong car, in US Cars one could establish a whole studio, but in German ones either... ;)

Hello, I'm new to the forum and to Justin's book, although I've been enjoying his song tutorials on YouTube for a couple years. Enjoying his book, and would like to have a copy of the practice chart in it. He writes in the book that there is a pdf of the chart in the accompanying CD set, but I've just looked at both of them and there are no pdf files there. Does anyone know if Justin has this anywhere on his site? Thank you.

Heather

Having searched and found the answer below, it would have been very helpful if this information had been included in the description of the "The JustinGuitar Beginner's Starter Pack", as was disappointed to find no DVD of the song videos, or that the videos were included in the Course DVD. I do appreciate the reason (as stated below), but this would have been helpful if stated in the description of the Package, rather than just the link for the Songbook itself.

Was looking at the product description and found this:

"Please note that NO SONGS are included on the DVD, you have to watch those on the web site. Sorry, it's because of copyright restrictions..."

From memory DVDs are a separate purchase unless you got the beginners bundle.

Matek is correct.

You get two audio CDs with the Beginner's Course book.

The Beginner's Course four DVD set is a separate purchase.

No there isn't any in the book, you'd have to download LH chord diagrams from the net. Easy to find.

as a LH I actually found LH diagrams confusing, and just went with right. Most of the time I was learning chords from videos anyway, and this was easier, being mirror image.

Hey taymana337, i'm a lefty too and i'm at the intermediate stages now. At first it's a bit difficult, having to translate the chordboxes to a left handed version, but the video's are really helpfull, as they give you a mirror image.

If something is especially difficult, i download some lefthanded chordboxes, diagrams etc, and start taking notes. (my chord book, for example. Just left handed chord boxes)

Have a look here: https://leftyfretz.com/

Good luck and have fun!

Hi,

I recently started working through the beginner course but I don't have a CD/DVD drive on my computer. I am able to find a computer with one, but the files are in a format called CDA which can only be played using the CD itself. This makes the audio completely useless to me, since I can't use it to learn without a CD rom drive. Has anyone else figured out a workaround to this issue?

I probably shouldn't be telling you this, but it's not hard to rip the files to mp3...

On checking my Beginners Coursebook CD 2 for the Blues Lead track I find the disc only contains PDFs of Practice Schedules and J.U.S.T.I.N charts but no tracks. According to the Track Listing at the back of the book it should contain 52 tracks with chords, pentatonic patterns and 12 Bar Blues variations etc

Is there anywhere on Justins site that I can download these tracks?

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

WB.

Sorted thanks to an email from Jed.

Anyone else having this issue - the tracks are there they're just not visible in explorer, use a media player and there they are!

Now for some blues practice!:)

Hi guys I've just started learning the beginners songbook and and am struggling to understand what it means if two chords are written closely together. I'm trying to learn common  people.  I would put a picture to try and make more sense of what I mean but if someone does no I would greatly appreciate some help
Title: Re: Trouble understanding chord progression
Post by: DarrellW on August 25, 2019, 07:07:21 pm
If the two chords are together with a bar line either side it means that you should play half of the bar one chord and the other half the other chord - in 4/4 timing 2 strums of each chord.
In that one if you're playing the 8's that would mean 4 strums of each chord, if in doubt watch the video on YouTube or on the tuition website.
HTH and welcome to the forum, good luck with your learning to play guitar!
