Thanks Justin, I have really have enjoyed strumming along with this song! 

For what it's worth, I think they stick to the E7sus4 at the end of the first verse, but move to the E7 at the end of the second verse.

Hi there, this is my first post, but I've been going through the beginner's course for the last year and it has been amazing, so thank you JC very much for the abundance of excellence.

I've recently been trying to learn this song, but can't figure out the bridge (flute solo) chords. It's 16 bars long and bars 1-3  & 9-11 are Am, but as for the rest... ??? help!

For what it's worth, I play it just like the verses.  Only, it's a little harder to follow along because the flute solo is so depressing.

Changed my mind about how the verses end.  Justin's right, they all end with a E7sus4.

Thanks for that. I had already seen that on the net and tried to fit it in but it didn't seem to work, but my skill level isn't too great (I'm on level 9 of beginners, my ear isn't v developed) and I will give it another shot!
ps: i like your music, especially the ambient one on soundcloud.

thanks. i tried to play it the same as the verse but as you say, it doesn't match with the depressing flute solo at times. i'm always trying to get things down 'by the book' and amire how others can just take liberties and play it how they feel. i need to loosen up!

ok i've been on youtube for a while trying to figure it out and i think i've made some progress. here's what i got:

i'm not sure it's perfect but it sounds ok to me. the main doubt is whether bar 16 is E7 or E7s4.

@sophiehiker i can see why you play it the same as the main progression: it pretty much is: bars 1-4 of the solo are different, but bars 5-8 of the solo are the same as bars 5-8 of the main progression, and bars 9-12 AND 13-16 of the solo are the same as bars 9-12 of the main progression.  ::) can't believe i couldn't hear this earlier. wow... first time i transcribed sth by ear and i see how justin's emphasis on it lays out now. it feels really good.

@alpestine,  I do believe you're right.  Four bars of Am!  (No wonder it sounds depressing. ) Thank you, I've been doing it wrong. 

I still think I hear E7sus4 at the end.

hey thanks, justin! you are without doubt the muthafunkin man-go! been your student for the past year and am on the last stage of beginners, and looking forward to moving on and up. mega big-ups again, and mad respect. i had tried to learn guitar since 2003 and met with frustration every time. in 2011 i was hipped to u and learned that i just lacked a good teacher.

I think I must have a bad copy of the song. I play ok through the intro, verse 1 and 2, but the flute solo sounds terrible, as if its in another key. I have followed the tips above but it does not fit with my copy.
 What could be wrong? Its no where near Am chord at the start of the flute solo.

On my copy of the song, I have had to de-tune it by 34 cents in Transcribe  so that it would be in tune with my guitar.  Be aware that not all recording are made in standard pitch (A=440 Hz), especially older ones.
