chords....how use them together...

I feel as if I should get and understand this, but I just can't figure out how to put chords together, majors, minors, 7's. I just dont know when and where I should put them. Just point me in the right direction and I'lll be forever grateful!!!! -Zack

• Understand what a key is?
• Understand scales?
• Understand how chords are constructed?

Yeah I can play a handful of songs, I bought Justin's Practical music theory. I understand the formula's on constructing chords. I'm not so strong on understanding keys. Im in the middle of memorizing and knowing where the notes are on the neck. I just get a little frustrated, I feel I'm stuck. I just need help on comprehending it all. I appreciate all the help I can get!

@Zwebb - sounds to me like you need to play a little more and think less!! It's easy for all of us to get into the understanding, but often playing will help the thoughts settle into the right places... try just playing some songs, easy jazz standards or something...
