I'm a bit confused on the strumming patern of Wonderwall. In the book, it looks like the G and Asus come in on a Down strum, but in the video on the website, Justin clearly says it has to be on the upstroke. Which one is correct?

In the book, Justin mentions that the proper strumming can be found in his free online lesson so I'd go with the video lesson.

I think you're right, and the book is wrong.

There is much discussion about strumming patterns. At the bottom of the first page I posted the strumming pattern that matches the video & was on the bottom of Justin's tab sheets before they had to be removed.

Fast car.
in the first measure, the c chord is played first without the top c (played with an open b instead), and then the c is played as the second note. it feels / sounds better with this c hammered down, rather than trying to put the finger down and then pluck it. do you proper guitarists play it that way? (for us beginners to learn from i mean!).
as ever, a lesson on this one would be awesome justin... good place to intro hammering technique? (is there anywhere else where hammer is intro'd?).

Learn "Working class hero" (or maybe "Wish you were here"), you can hammer-on to your heart's content

I certainly wouldn't consider myself a proper guitarist, but fwiw: I'd probably play it with the hammer-on, that sounds better to me (and doesn't Justin do that as well once or twice?)

Btw: that open C with the first finger (2nd string) lifted off is a Cmaj7

Edit: One thing, though. If you play it with a hammer-on, you really need to nail that note down, it's vital to the riff. That's probably the reason why Justin goes for the picked note here (wild guess on my part).

Hi. ive been looking at the video over and over again for hours and just dont understand where the strumming pattern DU DU DD fits into the 1+2+3+4+ pattern in the song  book.
8 minutes into the video it is slowed down but im still scratching my head.
i think it starts as (1D) + 2 (+U) (3D) (+U) (4D) (+D)

Please help
