Blackstar HT-5 Amp settings
« on: March 03, 2009, 05:19:34 pm »
Since several of us now own or will soon own one of these beauties, i thought we should start a thread that contains settings we like.

I don't have mine to hand, but i will post what i've got dialled in on mine currently, once i get home.

This is gonna be fun.  Maybe you should come up with a format we should all follow to make it easier to read.  Also, is you can add sound clips with the settings that would be cool too.

From memory I like this one:

Overdrive channel (all settings are O'clock)
Gain: 9
Volume: Depends on how late it is, but doesnt matter
Bass: 1
Middle: 2
Trebble: 12

Should be fairly clean when played lightly and slightly break-up when attacking the strings.
Guitars: Taylor 314CE, Guild D50 Dreadnought, Alvarez RD8, Gibson LP Std. Trad. Pro, Warmoth Custom Strat, MIA Strat, MIM Tele, PRS SE Singlecut
Amps: Blackstar HT-5S, Peavey Classic VT 2X12, Kustom KMA35DFX
Effects: Line6 JM4, Vox Tonelab ST

Good idea Ragz - but we need to keep the original thread going

He he Nice one Ant

Try this one

This is on the knob numbers they are split into divisions (but not numbered) 0-2-4-6-8-10 easy than o clock?

ISF 4 - 11 o clock (10.30 to be precise)
Treble 7  - 2 o clock
Middle 7 - 2 o clock
Bass 5 - 12 o clock
Volume 10 (of course)
Overdrive (now be careful here) 1 - 7.30 o clock

Take one single coil guitar and strum the Intro to either Substitute or Can't Explain - HARD and swing arm, jump up and down - Yaaay ;D ;D ;D

One thing I have noticed this amp is VERY sensitive to guitar volumes and pick up output - which I think is bloody brilliant. You can use your guitar volume as a gain control.

I'll drop the Ragz signature sound settings in here in a bit :) Headed home now.

Not really worried about special format of the thread, etc. As long as we know how to interpret the info, that's all that matters really.

Sweet, welcome to the group.  We hope to see some suggested settings from you too.

I like Jacks way of translating the settings.  It was much easier to dial in when I used the # settings rather than O'Clock.

well, i will post once i find it again. One of my boys decided to mess with the amp lol.

This is one setting i like though. I've listed it for both clean and dirty channels.
Using the Jack setting translation method to stay consistent with everyone elses wishes to use this method.
(The knobs are split into divisions 0-2-4-6-8-10)

Clean:
ISF: 2
Treble: 5
Middle: 5
Bass: 8
Volume: 4
Guitar Volume lowered to keep the amp at acceptable levels

Dirty:
ISF: 2
Treble: 5
Middle: 5
Bass: 8
Volume: 2
Gain: 3

Nice Ragz the clean very neutral though - not that there is anything wrong with that

Fancy a bit of La Grange?

A haw, haw, haw, haw, a haw.
A haw, haw, haw

Well, I hear it's fine if you got the time

HeHe it woke the bloody dog up anyway

ZZ Top

Neck Pick up on a strat so you may need to reduce the gain for humbuckers a little

ISF 0

Treble 10

Middle 2

Bass 2

Volume i'm on about 1 - this amp is loud

Overdrive 8

If you have it a little compression is nice

Tell me what you think

Will give it a test tonight.
I'm trying to find the sweet spot for imitating that AC/DC tone. I could nail it almost spot on with my Fender SCXD. Still getting used to this new amp though.

But, Ive never tried to play La Grange.  You know how to play it Jack?  Wanna help me get started on it?

Ragz, would love to get that AC/DC tone.  Please share when you get there.

Keep in mind, i'm going for their early years. Bon Scott era. I still love them but there is no greater AC/DC album than Dirty Deeds.
I'll write down the settings when i get them almost nailed.
